#71: June 16th, 2012 - Masking and Painting the POS...
Time for paint!
Almost 3 years to get to this point!
I have been getting most of my bodywork supplies from Glue Products on Georgia Ave in West Palm Beach. Cool store. Just stop in and walk up and down the isles to looks at stuff. The paint came from Single Source in WPB. (formerly B&P paint) It is PPG Omni MTK Acrylic Urethane 2K. The color is the factory Crystal White.
I shot it using a HVLP Suction-feed gun. It produced very little overspray at the recommended 10psi setting.
I put down 4 coats on the shell, doors and trunk lid. The only issues were some runs on the trunk lid and more 'orange peel' than I would of liked. Oh well, nothing that some wet-sanding and buffing won't fix.
After the paint is buffed out, I hang the panels I just painted on the car and have the glass put back in. Then I can start putting the car back together.
I'll get around to painting the bumpers, fenders and hood in a couple of months.
