#68: May 25th, 2012 - Replacing the drivers-side rocker panel skin...
In the last update, I had acquired an rocker panel from the junkyard and removed the outer skin. Now it was time to use it to replace the bent-up rocker panel on the POS.
I used the 'new' outer skin as a guide for cutting out the old one, making sure to cut inside the line and then 'creeping-up' on it. This is more time consuming, but ensures that I won't have huge gaps to try and weld-up.
This process was all done with the door still in place, so that I could maintain the proper gap between the rocker and the door. Once I was satisfied with the fitment, the new rocker skin was tack-welded into place and the door was removed to allow access for finish welding.

Once the new panel was welded in, all the welds were ground down and a coat of epoxy primer was applied. After that, the body filler, spot putty, block sanding & filler primer were used to make the rocker look as good as new.
